- Compute and interpret square roots and estimate roots for non-perfect squares
- Solve percent problems including discounts, markups, and interest
- Apply rates, ratios, and proportions to real-world situations
- Multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers accurately
- Perform integer arithmetic and use rules for signed numbers
- Analyze linear relationships and solve one-step and multi-step linear equations
- Model situations with linear equations and interpret solutions
- Use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right-triangle problems
- Calculate surface area of common 3-D shapes
- Compute volumes of prisms, cylinders, and other standard solids
- Interpret data displays and calculate basic probabilities
Prerequisites
Completion of Grade 7 mathematics or equivalent; comfortable with basic arithmetic, decimals, and introductory fractions.
