    • Risk: duplication of tooling and inconsistent standards.
  • Hybrid

    • A CoE provides standards, shared models, and platforms; embedded squads execute and customize for their product.

Pick the structure that fits your company size and culture. For most mid-size orgs, hybrid wins: shared platform, distributed ownership.


Hiring & ramping: what to look for beyond CV glitter

Great candidates show: curiosity, reproducibility habits, communication skills, and a sense for product impact.

Interview focus suggestions:

  • Problem solving and system design for ML pipelines.
  • Code review or take-home exercise that tests reproducibility (not just 'make it work').
  • Portfolio review: ask for a clear story of a project — objectives, data, trade-offs, and what went wrong.
  • Cultural fit: how do they handle ambiguous specs? How do they fail? Do they document?
